Privacy Policy

With G DATA Antivirus Mac we provide protection against viruses, Trojans, phishing and other types of malware. G DATA Antivirus Mac contains several components in which we process personal data. Detailed information on individual modules can be found below.

G DATA Antivirus Mac contains solutions by our technology partner Bitdefender. In order to provide this additional level of protection Bitdefender processes the personal data resulting from the use of G DATA Antivirus Mac on our behalf.

Malware detection

G DATA Antivirus Mac identifies malware, detects suspicious behaviour of applications and improves our detection techniques. If G DATA Antivirus Mac identifies malware we process unique identifiers (e.g. installation identifiers, unique malware identifiers, your operating system and your IP address) and checksums about files identified by our application as potentially malicious and their respective file path for each device and application installation. The processing of this data will be carried out to fulfil our contract with you regarding the use of G DATA Antivirus Mac. We also use this data for statistical analysis of detected malware and its spread and to improve our analysis methods.

 

Registration

You may test G DATA Antivirus Mac for a limited time free of charge. To activate your test version, you do not need to provide any personal data. When entering a serial number to use a paid license you also do not need to provide any personal data.

Updates

G DATA Antivirus Mac performs regular signature updates to maintain malware protection. We process your IP address and the information provided at registration to verify your license status. The processing of this data will be carried out to fulfil our contract with you regarding the use of G DATA Antivirus Mac.

Internet protection

If you activate the Internet protection module G DATA Antivirus Mac sends URLs accessed by your device to our server or Bitdefender servers. We process this data in order to provide you with an assessment of the security of the accessed URL. The processing of this data will be carried out to fulfil our contract with you regarding the use of G DATA Antivirus Mac. We also use this data for statistical analysis of harmful websites and to improve our analysis methods.

Your Rights as a Data Subject

Please note: You have the right to request information at any time from G DATA CyberDefense AG regarding personal data relating to you that we have stored (Article 15 of the GDPR). You are also entitled to request information regarding the recipients or categories of recipients to whom this data is forwarded as well as the purpose and duration of storage.

 

Rectification, erasure, restriction of processing

You also have the right to demand the rectification (as stipulated in Article 16 of the GDPR), erasure (as stipulated in Article 17 of the GDPR), or the restriction (as stipulated in Article 18 of the GDPR) of the processing of your personal data.

 

Data portability

Furthermore, as stipulated in Article 20 of the GDPR, you can request the transmission of your personal data at any time.

 

Right to object to processing

In the event of the processing of personal data for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (Article 6(1)(1)(e) of the GDPR) or for the purposes of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(1)(f) of the GDPR), you can object to the processing of your personal data at any time with future effect. In the event of an objection, we must refrain from all further processing of your data for the aforementioned purposes, unless
